Is that monaco roof fibreglass? How do you bond to the chassis and keep strength? Do you have a mould?

yes it`s a fibreglass top
it gets bonded (Glued) & riveted to the body & glassed up
& we make a fair comprehensive roof strengthening frame, a roll-cage of sorts
amongst a pile of other strengthening panels added to the body to stiffen the entire structure
& yes we took a mould off the original car

Wow the engine looks to sit low in the engine bay. What's the height difference between the micra and the A series?

That is the first thing i noticed too.

Yeah the cam cover sits about 2&1/2inches lower than the A-series rocker cover but the sump is at the same distance off the ground as the A-series gearbox, so the engine package does have a slightly lower center of gravity
& it weighs close to the same
& the subframe is almost the same weight too
so over-all it`s not a bad little conversion
apparently it`s easy to make 100hp at 9000rpms with the inlet & exhaust sorted & flick the std computer & either fit bike carbs or after-market ECU
then (of course) we can easy add way more than that again by having a play with cams & cyl head porting n valves & compression etc
or just throw a lung onto it :-) (Turbo) :-)
I have heard (a little birdy told me) that they`re particularly reliable at 9000rpms, so i`m keen :-)

Hey Matt, how'd you come across these engines? the Micra's don't seem like pocket rockets so how'd you decide to start playing with them?
