Hi has anyone got some tips on who I should talk to in regards to putting a Chris Barry 4age into a mini? I'm keen to get it engineered and registered?

theres a bloke in Perth with one - the big issue is that they're very wide so the track needs widening, other than that it'd be all of the normal conversion issues people face. Find a friendly engineer first

The track on that Mini soooo wide with massive flares to cover the wheels.

I talked to the Dept of Transport when discussing my conversion and he said that the only reason they gave the green light for that Mini was it was a personal import from UK and there was no way it could ever be built and registered locally as WA does not allow the track width to be changed). That's W.A. though Mc281 - your forum profile doesn't advise where you are located, so I can't vouch for other states' restrictions.

If you have a look on the 16v mini forum there are a couple of guys in South Africa that have them in minis with standard (or somewhere near) track.

I think you would need to extend the front of a round nose or use a clubman though. I chose to widen the track but as Mearcat said, mine was a personal import
fully road registered in the UK before arrival so they let me off a bit, and it was pretty much the first one they had seen here in WA.

But it certainly will be tight which ever way you do it, but don't let that stop you!!

There's a round nose 4AGE Turbo round here - front is standard but no room for the radiator so it's under the boot floor.
Runs standard mini arms and hubs too, so it's not that wide.

i got some wheels off a chap in Wollongong earlier this year and he had a hillclimb MRA style mini with a 4AG in it, he was in the middle of doing some big mods to the front end, even had struts front suspension, wheel track was WIDE
