before all of these Suzuki GTIs, Toyota Starlet and Corollas, Subaru etc etc conversions a mate of mine put a Mitsubishi Colt engine in a Clubman. Went like a shower of crap. The dual range gearbox was really awesome!!!!!

just outa curiosity, anyone know how big a Mitsubishi lancer/evo motor is? had a random idea (along the lines of a wrx Vs moke theory) of plonking the evo setup into my clubby... that or grab a mirage engine, which is actualy quite nice (my cousin rallys them in aus-rally)

recon it would fit??

Idearat, don't quote me but the most of the 2L jap engines start to get reasonably big and probably not possible to keep the mini standard and get them in, most go a space frame chassis which is a lot of work...

Lot of work is an understatement

Don't have measurements for the Lancer donk, but they look to be too tall to fit.
Unless you can get away with a massive bonnet hump
The heads on them MIVEC motors sure don't make em any shorter!

Yeah AWD, agreed fully, also I think the side to side measurement may also be a problem. The starlet motor leaves enough room but I think the 2L jobbies would get a bit wider and you may have problems with wheels rubbing on engine/gearbox if you kept standard setup...

yea chears guys... throwing ideas around just for the hell of it... after looking at a yellow GT in miniworld a few months ago, i'm thinking the idea of 16" rims look nice (if you saw that issue it came up nice) and just for the hell my old man and me were thinking about eather the mirrage or the evo setup in my clubbie with 16' rims and decked out for raceing... but hey most ideas stay as ideas :P
other ideas included barina or astra motors... maby even a excel motor, just because they have a fair bit of poke for small cars....

eather way chears!
