It's not as hard as you might think. As long as you have all the ECU pinouts & wiring diagrams, then just start stripping the tape & split-tubing off. Once it's all off, do one wire/sensor at a time & have a master-sheet where you tick off the ones completed, & make your own wiring diagram for the other solenoids & switches. :)

This would have to be one smick (oh and quick) vehicle. Hope all goes well with the engineering.

Exactly what I am worried about :( hence the procrastination for the next step.
I have a Subaru manual but the wiring diagram is spread over about 60 pages so it is not that easy to follow. Pity it's not a mini harness :D

I was considering starting from a switch that I don't need like the Air Suspension. Find the supply to the switch, and then remove everything from there to the switch and on to the compressor and strut height sensors. I just hope there is not something that the ECU uses as a reference off that lot.
Then move on to the next bit ?

Way, way too organised, logical and/or professional approach there Sluggo :P

Yep! Except maybe...

"I was considering starting from a switch that I don't need like the Air Suspension. Find the supply to the switch, and then temporarily disabling or disconnecting for eventual permanent removal once the basic loom has been proven everything from there to the switch and on to the compressor and strut height sensors>

[Label, wrap or clearly mark the loom wiring once removed as to be removed later during the process]

[PPS and wait till some unknown, phantom service point way down the track where Mr ECU says "I'm going into limp mode because Mr Phil has missed a service!" ]

Once you get a fair way into it, then discover you have to go back & change something, you'll need those notes.
Dunno about you, but I can't remember which wire was which two days later, let alone two weeks later.

Just a coupla more bits of basic advice from someone who has made most of the mistakes already...
If you cut an unwanted wire from the ECU, leave a decent (10-15cm) tail so you can tape it up neatly and in case you have to put a connector on it later.
Assuming you have a multi-meter & know how to use it, make up a wire longer than the car, with clips at each end, so you can test for continuity on any wire from any corner of the car.
Use blade connectors instead of those round ones.
Try to follow the rule - Use insulated female blade connections on the positive side of a wire connection.
Stop procrastinating! Just make a start!

Ok, procrastination is over.
I have now started on the loom (having sold PHL-850 to another Ausmini member) I’m back to my original project.
The Subaru loom sure is more complex that an 850 loom.
Attachment:

Need to remove the:
Cruise control
Power windows
Central locking
Radio and speakers
Air conditioning
Air suspension

That should simplify it.
Then I need to shorten the loom be about 2m.

Where is the best place to by tools for depinning connectors ?

I use the sections from a radio aerial. Several different diameters for different sized pins and there is usually one in everybodies shed.

I bought a generic depinning set off eBay for about $7 and has done me just fine for my Toyota wiring

Amazing build! And sounds like you have a great handle on ICVs and engineering, and a really practical approach to achieving what you want. A guy on another forum I am on built had a Mitsubishi L300 van as an ICV - converted it in to a ute, and installed a mid mounted LS3. https://www.whichcar.com.au/features/19 ... hsv-ls3-v8. Like you he had a really practical approach to ICVs and engineering and made it seem easy
