Wow! Nice rear lights from the modern mini, do you require additional reflectors ?

What's the width of the new wheel base ?

Did you think about making internal hinges on the boot to help smooth it out?
Also the rover boot handle is more flush than the Aussie one, if you really want to go down that road.

Fair old effort!

Was there any option of making appear narrower (mead as less wide)?. Fantastic effort, just a question as to whether you wanted it to look like a hot wheels/ radio controlled car.

Why colour is it going to be?

Modern tail light had to be fitted to comply with current lighting requirements as an ICV must comply with the ADR's that are current at the time of registration.
I have kept all of the original external hinges etc so that it keeps as much of its original heritage as I legally can.
The drive shaft will be a shortened version of the original.
I have to cut an air inlet in the front if the bonnet for the air to the inter cooler which will be a similar shape to the Bini inlet.
I'm trying to use either original Mini or Bini styling.
The planned colour scheme is from the current Bini, Red body, black windows/pillars, white roof and satin black flares.

Hope that answers most of the questions ?

Are you allowed to keep the protruding 850 door handles? I thought Leyland changed to the flush lift up style handles to comply with ADR's about pedestrian safety bs :?: .

He he... Protruding door handles

Not really going to snag a pedestrian are they? All the pedestrians have already been steam rollered by the huge guards!

Still, you never know what a DOT paper pusher will say.

This thing is mad. I love it.

You probably shoud read the ADR. Pedestrian safety isn't mentioned.

I thought it was pedestrian safety. When i built my deluxe i left the black handle stoppers off thr car and it failed roadworthy because of the pedestrian safety thing....its cause the open ended handles could catch on somone like a hook.

The stoppers on the handle are for pedestrian safety, but there is no ADR for them.

The flappy handles are part of ADR2 for door hinges and latches.

Is that the "burst proof" latch system that is meant to prevent the doors flying open in an accident? (occupant safety)....which doors prior to 1970 do not have  but I'm hopping due to the roll cage is not needed :? :?: .

Back to the car, what power dose the engine make?

Geez, why so serious? I know the burst proof and pull-to-open rules but Rovers and Jeeps get registered here with non conforming push button systems so who knows what this car will need.

I was just having a giggle at how far in from the outside of the car the handles are.

Now back to the show! Let's hear more about this cool machine and its owner.

If i ever build a smoothed and deseamed mini, i'm going to have the door releases from a TVR, little tiny button on the underside of the mirrors. I think that's awesome.

Yeah I agree I wasn't trying to hijack the thread, just curious as he said the transport depo wanted it to be inline with current ADR's (the reason he has the Bini rear lights).

Keep up the good work mate.

Yes, it has Burst Proof door locks. Another ADR requirement for ICV's.
Andrew at Penrith Muffler man builds Clubmans and he bent up all of the Space Frame pipework for me. During discussion he asked me what I was going to do for the door lock. I had bought Clubman ones but there was going to be some serious changes to the doors and the pillars to get them to fit.
Andrew suggested XF Falcon door locks as that is what they use on Clubmans.
Enter Ebay and a set of XF Falcon latches were bought. They are a tiny little mechanism that with a little massaging (grinding) they actually fit inside the 850 doors.

Yes, it is actually in there. I said they were tiny.
Image
The Falcon door striker screwed to a bracket welded to the pillar.
Image
Because of the cutout in the door for the striker, it had no strength left so I have made an "infill" piece to weld in to get the strength back into the door.
