Try that list if you like.

Here at work in Adelaide we use Tonkin's. Very professional, (and Graeme Burton there has already engineered 92's 4EFTE clubby here in SA.)

It's not only the qualification of an engineering degree that is required, i'm fairly sure the engineer has to have CPE (Chartered Professional Engineer) status - which is at least 3 years experience and a few more reports / exams.

I'll post when i find out more about that though, as i'm a Mechanical Engineer from SA and i'm doing my own conversion over the next year or two - just gotta find the time!

Other States would probably have a similar list of approved engineers like this who can sign off on modifications. Check out your local Transport Dept / RTA / etc website.

I've talked to Peter Gillard from adr compliance in Leichardt, Sydney NSW and he is REALLY usefull

He answered all my questions and seemed to know ALOT about what needs to be done and what cant be done.

+1 on that. I spoke to Peter about my project - I've got a Mini K that I'm restoring and making light mods along the way. Peter used to be in the NSW Mini Club and I think he has helped out quite a few Mini owners, so he knows his way around a Mini and is familiar with quite a few of the aftermarket parts brands. His workshop is in Canterbury, although he does live around the corner from me so that's quite handy 8)

Anyone have any recommended engineers in Sydney? I'm looking for one now for my project.

I see Peter Gillard was recommended earlier, but it was 4 years ago

I am currently dealing with Troy Brodie from Fink Engineering, In Wollongong. Highly recommended. Only ever talked to him on the phone so far but always returns my calls and gives me info to the questions I ask. Will be doing some mods to my allspeed subframe in the next month hopefully then will finally get a face to face. I have been talking to him and emails for about a year now.

Thanks

Nope, Enkelman shut shop for personal project engineering. I tried to get them on board for mine.

Try contacting a mob by the name of Cartech - I've spoken to them and they'd have a look.

My 1977 VTEC Clubbie went through rego at Mt Gambier in March with no problems. My engineer was AUTEST and did a great job for me. It helped that a lot of the conversion was standard Metro front end from Watsons in the UK. No need to provide extra engineer's certification of fabricated parts. It also helped that the Watsons conversion comes with certification from a German firm (TUV) that certifies conversions, among other things. Provided you follow the Watsons instructions and use their kit, no probs. The only things AUTEST were required by the licensing folk to check were the brakes and the car's behaviour through witches' hats - all done at Goolwa airstrip. I needed to get the motor dynoed and emissions tested (on the dyno, at idle only, as it required only 1977 standards), and again, no problems. AUTEST also helped a lot by pointing out things to watch for when the car went in for roadworthy. All in all, quite painless and professionally done. Highly recommended. I now have a very nice road car that I'm very pleased with.
