A glass grille. Now there's an idea. :)

Typical mini.......I go to bleed the brakes only to find out the rear cylinders are shot.
New cylinders, shoes and drums purchased. The shoes had plenty on them but the brake fluid on them was not ideal. Drums, well I might as well do the lot.
As I fit up the Passenger side drums I notice some movement in the rear suspension arm. Off it comes to find out the bearing is seized and the pin is worn. My theory is that if I am going to do one side then I might as well do both. Considering it has new discs, pads and calipers on the front I do feel good knowing it has new brakes all round with the Vtec going in.
A little bit of colour to stop the drums rusting.

Hi ya Dutchy, loving the build log, I was just wondering, what caused the scratches on the damper (shock), is it just your tool marks or was it related to the the tailing arm problem?

Cheers keep up the great effort

The opposite side was the one that was no good. Both trailing arms have that mark. It looks like happens when the car is on the ground as that part of the shock absorber must rub on the top half when it goes up and inside in it.

Im now getting to the pointy end of the build now.
Greased up the suspension and ball joints.
The clutch pedal travels a bit too far so I had to add a block of rubber to the back of the pedal as a temporary measure till I can come up with a permanent solution.
A 70-63mm reducer elbow, some 2 1/2" alloy tubing and some 63mm flexible tubing made up the Air intake. It was a tight squeeze but I got it in. The K&N filter needs a clean and re-oil.

First test drive today. Excellent outcome. No issues. The ECU still needs to be tuned properly but it was good to go around the block a few times.

very cool...

just thinking - all of that concertina piping you have there to get the air cleaner under the mudguard (for cooler air?) will be terrible for airflow, it'll probably lose you more than what you gain by the cooler air. I reckon you'd be better off putting the air cleaner directly on to the intake elbow

There's a well worn article on the pressures generated under the front wings. So I can't imagine it would hurt to put an intake up there, might even reduce lift at high speed due to the scavenging.

Interesting battery placement, I have always wondered how hard it would be to put a little brallie battery up front.

Yeh it's interesting. I would ideally like t get rid of it but will need to see how it goes in Summer. Small engine bay, hot B16A, radiator fan blows back into where the intake is so I am unsure what a 30 odd degree day would be like under the bonnet.

There is no battery up front. Where are you looking? Or what do you think is the battery?

Dutchy, maybe think about a splash guard, wrap or one of Mums washing up gloves for the multi pin connectors :?:
