Anyone started a 1l ecoboost swap yet? Ive found this one on turbo minis http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/inde ... tid=571611.
Seems height is the biggest problem as far as fitting, im getting some measurements tommorrow . 2nd hand engine and 5 speed box are going for under 2k and a few aftermarket engine management systems available ( not cheap about 1400 pounds ) but seems like a realistic swap now given they seem to be putting out some impressive output stock. Im keen to give it a go when my current money pit is finished.

OR 10-11k for a brand spanking new engine from Ford (not available as a crate version yet). I have thought about it a lot, Z-cars in the Uk are currently looking at developing a subframe for the round nose with a reduced sump.

Hi everyone!

By the moment, The Mini Evolution conversión is only offered as a full build or as a drive in/drive out conversion. We have a distribution agreement with some workshops and garages in UK, USA and working on a new one in Canada. The cost of the conversion on Drive in/drive out is 15K USA Dollars and from 30K on Full Car build.

We are in touch with some customers in Australia interested in this conversion and geting contact with a third party interested in import our conversion kit to realize the assembly there for their customers.

If anyone would like to get more info about the conversion, Specs, prices, optional extras and further information, please email us to info@restomodclassic.com.

Thanks for the interest and let me know any other question you may have.

looks like it'd be tight around the master cylinders on a RHD car... but this is good news

I like that bit too- but getting it to work with a factory ECU can’t be an easy task. We’d need that in Aus wouldnt we? Ive certainly needed it for mine.
Something to look into for the next conversion!

The micra conversion could get much the same specs with a cam and some more compression (N/A) and doesn't touch the body, factory ECU is no problem... but why is that necessary? As long as it passes appropriate emissions I don't see why they would care what's running it.

What did the engineer give as a reason for you having to run the factory ECU?

Emissions are hard to get around in victoria. There's only a couple of places that can certify an emission test and that costs thousands.
It was probably a convenience thing for him since if the car is in factory tune he doesn't have to organise the tests.

That's a bummer! the two emissions testing facilities in NSW are provided free, my engineer was keen for me to keep the factory manifold, injectors, and emissions gear but not if it meant cutting into the firewall to keep the factory manifold.

Interestingly when I went to get tested the emissions testing guys asked me why I was there, emissions now is based off the year of the vehicle not the year of the engine, they provided me with the relevant section to give to my engineer too. The engineering scheme is supposed to be national now so it might be engineers still sticking to how they used to do it.

I don’t know if that applies in victoria yet, but i was speaking to an auto engineer recently who said it was going to get harder to engineer a car in vic from next year - perhaps a national engineering system will be adopted? All i know is when vicroads sent the paperwork for him to register for the new system he told them he’s not interested. A few engineers have left the game down here over the past 2 years- wonder if thats a hint of something?
