I'm with Harley, if you can make it work at all a whole car is better, and probably cheaper even if you ripped out everything you might possibly use then scraped the rest?
I bought my micra for $500 years ago with a bit of front end damage, there's a few micras I've seen selling for similar I think. I'd think you could get the whole car for less or the same than your quote but it may be different in Melbourne.

Hey Fuzz,
I have been looking for a while and haven't seen a micra that cheap. They are all at least 1000 bucks.
Where did you get yours? Where have you seen them for cheap?

I spoke to a couple of engineers today. I found one that seemed really good. He said "that sounds like forum talk" when I asked him a question about subframe construction. Lols.

Harley, I am excited!

Spotted a complete looking micra in the Harveys wrecker at Somerville last time I was there.
Might be good for parts if you're local?

I got my micra complete for $600. There is a bit of a micra scene, so I sold some things on the Aussie micra fb page, mainly cheap trim etc, but still netted $120.

The usual places eBay, Gumtree etc they aren't all that common as they were only imported for a short time so it may take a while.
Other costs can form a big part so don't worry too much about a cheap donor...A car which runs and is in good health is probably more important.

:?: what did you ask?
A lot of the engineers I talked to seemed very negative, the one I've got is ok but pretty conservative, it's difficult to pick them hey, in country NSW I had little choice anyway.

As this thread seems to be well off topic already (i accept I had a hand in that)

I'm after a catalytic converter for my conversion as it has to pass an IM240 emissions test, the place that will be tuning it has recommended I get an OEM cat from something after 6/2010(euro 4) or as late as possible from a car less than 2ltrs as otherwise it won't warm up I guess.

Anyway I've been looking through the wreckers and all the late stuff seems to have dual cats with the first cat on the manifold. Does anyone know a late model car that still uses a single cat a fair distance back?

Aftermarket cats have been suggested but I was specifically warned about these... But I guess there has to be decent ones that actually work as well...

Hey Matt,
As always, I enjoy your posts.

I have been looking for a motor or a whole car at the right price. It seems in QLD they are plentiful but in Victoria it's hard to find one for sale cheap.
I went to look at it and he said I didn't need to as I had seen photo's of it already online. I pressed him further and he said I can't because it was raining and 4:30pm. He didn't want to get wet and they closed in 30 minutes. I left and went to work in a huff :) I really don't want to support a business like that but it seems like an ok deal, especially if I can get it cheaper.

Yeah I'm getting ready for when someone asks what's in it?
Just a standard 1275... :D

Oh other news, I got Nistune now so a fully programmable ECU in the factory package and loom. 8)

Sweet donkey balls! Nistune is what I'm planning on doing. Any ideas on how to use it fuzzy? Will you attempt a choon or take it somewhere?
Working shifts at my second job to make some sweet
cg13de-ollars.

Nistune is pretty capable so I didn't see any reason to go aftermarket,.. It can handle turbo, etc

My plan is to get it tuned and then emissions tested in Sydney then rego!!!

As no one tunes micras that I know of anyway so I rung up nistune and Matt suggested MRC Dyno, I've bought the consult cable and a license so I can tune but I think I'll play it safe and then play from a known good tune.

So certainly I want to learn it but later...

If you are looking for a tuner I reckon ring Matt and see who he recommends as there were a few places that showed little / no interest in a cg13de, as probably only did sr20s and skylines etc..
In fact lots of places seem fall into one of two camps those that have the ability and interest to do something different and those that just want easy and simple jobs.
