When I was a crazy teenager I had a mini cooper in NZ we fitted seats from a Cessna aircraft into it, back seat wasn't required after that

Hmmmm, didn't think to try the other mount, was late in the day, from memory they looked identical, but will check when I get home (at the V8 Supercars right now, corporate box :-) )

It seems so unlikely to me that Tricky would get this wrong, it probably is the mounts being back to front, fingers crossed!

I figured the answer had to in that 125 page long thread somewhere, I was partly right I guess, there's a couple of pics of the frames installed both on the seats and in the car, none show the bit of near the shoulder though although a couple of background pics showed the seats in and back behind the door frame...

Well, have checked and the brackets are left and right (see the below image, you can see one side is angled for the centre 'tunnel'), unfortunately we did have the right bracket on the righthand side, and the seat wing sticks an inch or more out the window, so no go there. And it doesn't matter if you put the seat on the other side (so with the adjustment handle on the inside, same problem with the wing sticking out the window... I can only surmise the brackets and seats were fitted/tested without doors on and no-one noticed this issue?? I'll just add it to the looooong list

Even if I make new brackets (or modify these), the two seats would almost certainly be touching (or very close to it) in the centre as far as I can tell by eye, plus I just think they're too big for the car, don't/won't suit it at all IMHO?

I have those seats in my car they fit fine. You just have to offset the mounts towards the middle of the car by an inch its easy.

Any chance of some pics mate?

Moved the car over to a different workshop today, time for some fabrication work... Have ditched the 'cold air intake/box' and piping of the original design and going with something a bit more simpler (and that will actually deliver cold air to the turbo intake...) A few other things to be done whilst it's there, new seat mounts to try and use the seats I have, a guard/barrier for the alternator (which is quite exposed in the wheel arch), progress progress :)

Thinking of also fabbing up a simple dash like this (but right hand drive obviously, and with the single digidash unit mounted in it), waddayareckon?

Might've found some better seats for the car, they're (the ones on the left) out of a Porsche 911, the ones on the right are out of a 40th Anniversary Cooper S for scale

And sitting in said 40th Anniversary Cooper S:

Seem to fit OK yes?

Finally got around to sourcing and fitting some gas struts for the bonnet today also:

You'll also notice that the 'cold air intake' and piping, shown here, is gone:
Image

The alloy piping across the length of the engine bay, along with it (pretty much) contacting the exhaust manifold, was doing an excellent job of heating the air coming through, totally negating the whole point of a cold air intake... So, instead we're going to mount the air intake on the right hand side (so on the left as you're looking at the above picture), the filter will be sitting in the front spoiler in fact. This does pose some risk of water ingress, but realistically I don't expect to be driving this car through floodwaters or even in particularly heavy rainfall, and besides which, I live in Townsville and it hardly bloody rains here as it is ha ha

Also seriously considering ditching the doors that Tricky made up, getting the non-mini door handles to work with the mini door latches etc is proving to be a bloody nightmare (I wonder why they were never done eh? ). As I'm now pretty sure I'm going to get the car vinyl wrapped once it's complete this isn't such a big deal (don't get me wrong, I do really like the Martini paint scheme, but it's perhaps a little to garish for general street use? Getting the car wrapped rather than re-painting it will be a cheaper option and will also leave the Martini scheme intact if I ever want to go back to it at a later date
