Hi Guys, as some of you know I have a daihatsu 3 cylinder turbo engine ready to go into a mini.

I have barely any time on my hands to work on it plus I had a massive tax return this year

Does anyone know of anyone who can build a subframe for me and any idea what they would charge as a guide?

I figure once the engine and box are physically mounted the rest would be pretty straight forward and much less time consuming. It would save me learning to weld and buying even more tools too!

One thing you could do while you are waiting..is research Italian Minis and Mini Clubs for an Innocenti or the variant that used a Dai engine....

If they can come up with a subframe picture it might make the job a whole lot easier....

Car in pics is actually a later, DeTomaso... the suspension etc is obviously different, not sure how much Mini DNA is really still there... but that's a Daihatsu 3 lunger in it.

Im not sure if the subframes would be the same, I have the DOHC turbo engine. Its a fair bit wider than the one pictured. Well the Head is anyway.

Does anyone know what the rough cost of having a subframe made would be? Are we talking upwards of $2000?

If you want a good job for road use then I guess the workshop will engage an engineer to oversee the work. labour @ $50/hr + engineer @$120/hr say 3 weeks solid work and 5 inspections = $6000

Or maybe you could find the time.....

Hmmm, looks like Ill have to utilize my sick days better
