Post subject:  Suspension setup for Honda Vtec Converted Mini

Hi guys
I'm just starting on my Honda engine conversion on my 1999 Rover Mini using an AllSpeed subframe.

Just wondering what suspension set up for those with the Honda conversion are using or recommend?

Would it be fine for me to leave the rear suspension as it is with cones, or change to shocks and spring?

How about for the front? I have seem some with Coilovers up the front.

Thanks
Dan

I have coils in mine - they don't cope well with the weight of the engine.
Id go with rubber cones for now and upgrade later on if you felt the need.

Gidday Dan, I have completed my wife’s vtec mini. I’m using stock cones both ends but may swap to slightly harder version up front (red spot from memory) . SPAX shocks at half way up front and fully soft at rear.
The car above is for family runs and change to 3.471 final makes it a nice car to drive “everyday”
I have found this car rides perfectly fine on stock donuts.
However my race car that I built in NZL 1998 is using 500 lbs springs up front ( coil overs) 5 degrees castor and competion rubber cones at rear. Although I’m about to change to 150 coil overs.
Either way awesome ride.
Patrick.
