The way this thread works is as follows:

You post a CONCISE description of a "How To" that you would like done.

Someone who is fairly competent at doing the job, if they have time, will take various important photos as they complete the work and type up a step by step guide for non mechanically minded people to follow (plenty of pictures are strongly encouraged).

It would be preferred if only people who are reasonably experienced at performing tasks on steering / suspension and brakes provide information on these topics. If there is a "How To" wanted that, if something stops working or fails etc, will cause a catastrophic failure and possibly injure or kill someone then please leave that how to to another more experienced member or at least post your "How To" up so it may be peer reviewed by other experienced members.

If someone completes a "How To" for you, please do not attack the way they in which they completed it. There can be different ways to do the same thing (e.g. getting a flywheel to part from the taper on the crank). Even use their way to plan the way you're not going to do it if need be but keep it to yourself. If people cut down everyone who submits a "How To", there will be very few people who would want to take the time to bother to create future "How To's". Unless the suggestions are constructive criticism's they will be removed without notice at the administrator / moderators sole discretion.

It would be appreciated if the original asker of that "How To" would PM the "How To" creator and thank them for their effort. It takes an massive amount of effort to take additional pictures and complete a write up.

Please copy and paste the list so that it is always on the latest post and add your "How To" to it. Once a thread has been created, please remove it from the list.

Please check back to this first post over time as it may be edited to better reflect changes as deemed necessary.

OK, now that's out of the way start posting what you would like to see!

Batter up!

- How to assemble the front subframe and fittings (arms, CVs, etc) (24/9/2010)

I'm soon to embark on this one so if anyone can give me some pointers that would be great. I have a cleaned up subframe, a collection of new/restored parts, some manuals, a torque wrench and very little idea  I'm not sure if I have all the necessary bits  Alternatively, if someone can point me towards the right manual, I'm happy to take some snaps when I attempt it.

Here are few helpful ones i would like to see.

How to setup camshaft timing - timing your cam in
How to mount your engine on an engine stand
How to remove & replace your steering rack
How to upgrade to pot joints
How to setup your clutch & flywheel

I wonder if it is possible to obtain permission to list links to other websites how to's, for example http://www.minimania.com/Article_List.c ... e=articles or is that not kosher?

when embarking on the bigger projects recently i did find it hard to find information and/or how to's on a lot of stuff.

i would like a full parts list for each car, cooper, vans, clubbies, k's including part numbers so its easier to place orders. I realsie this list could be rather large, so maybe adding them to the bottom of each how-to

PS, i just did all the front control arms etc, so i have heaps of pics. also a can explain a handy way to do it without a cone compressor. so im up for putting my two cents worth in.
