I've just bought this pack from a US website pretty much sight unseen , does anyone know anything about them ? This is the description from the site ,

Quote:
1G-16-100. MICRO PLA-MODEL SERIES. really small. 1970's. contains 6 of each: VW, MINI COOPER, PORSCHE, FIREBIRD. less than a 1/4" each. old style box logo. unusual kit, Japanese issue only. parts mint & factory sealed. box vg.

And the picture ,

I figured for US$29 posted to my doorI can't go wrong as it's an interesting looking box anyway but am I reading it right in that they are 1/4" long or is 1/4" a referencee to the scale ? According to the description there is 6 of each car type in the sealed pack so maybe they are really that tiny ???

1/4" scale is O scale (railway) or 1:43 scale , but I don't see how a box of 24 (6 of each of 4 types of car) 1:43rd scale models would sell for US$20 or be posted airmail to Australia for US$9 , but then again 1/4" long would be absolutely tiny (but still fun to have ) ....

gasolinealleyantiques 'eh... it is on their 1:43 scale page, I reckon he's saying less than 1/4" scale. Pity they don't give a box measurement or something to reference the box against

I guess you'll find out soon enough :)

Yep , it's on it's way , I'm assuming the 1/4" is in reference to being railways O scale but surely they'd be charging more for a sealed pack of 24 models than $20 .... All 4 car's are popular enough to make it more valuable than that .

Hee hee , they arrived today .... They are 1/4 inch long  Photo's will follow later when I figure out how to take a clear photo of something small enough to be driven by a flea

They are fairly well detailed and easily identifiable as a mini too .

Look forward to seeing them, I tried to buy some from the same site, (hoping they had multiple sets), but they only had the one!!

Cheers

Would you like a saucer of milk to go with that catty comment ...

Well , here are the photo's , I've had to use the previously smallest mini model for comparrison , I tried to use a corgi mini but the camera couldn't focus/find the smaller model . I've also zoomed right in on the computer for an extreme closeup .

This is the type of model I'm using for size comparrison , they are about 1/2" long ,

Image

And these are the new models , around 1/4" long    Check out how HUGE the 5 cent piece looks .

Well , after discussing it on the IMMCC it seems it's a Z guage railways model car pack , 1/220 scale . The blue one I used for comparison is N guage , 1/160 . Knew there had to be a reason for it being so small ....

Here's some scans of the front and rear of the box too in case anyone wants to give me a translation ,

Front ,

Back ,
