Is it expensive to build an RC mini? I'd love to give it a go but feeling a bit poor at the moment

swae, it can be, the kit the ute body comes with sells for around $250 without the rc gear and motor, so just the chassis and body.
A tamiya mini with the standard body can be had as a kit for around the $200 mark, shop around can find better prices.
Best place is rc forums as the tamiya kit is a popular race class and they do pop up for sale quite often, ebay is also a good source.
All up you can end up spending $450 to the sky is the limit, same as a regular mini then :P

1018cc, yes it is an electric, probably good for around 50+km/h, has brushless motor for more speed and longer runtimes. Has drift tyres on it at the moment, havent mounted and glued new tyres yet (LAZY!)
this is the link to the site with the ute and countryman bodies.

does that body fit on the tamiya m-03 chassis, or are the rear strut towers too tall? :D

looks fantastic!

I'll add these in here too , these are all owned by a new member of the IMMCC and I figured we might as well see them here as well ,

Some nice looking little mini's there , I love the race mini with the bonnet bulge and wide flares .
