Well I finally bit the bullet and did something I have been wanting to do for years. I went and raced my Tamiya M03!

Man I had a heap of fun.

For people who don't know, there is a class of RC racing in Australia just for the Tamiya Mini. The M03 and M05 chassis. You can obviously race with any body you like, but most run Mini's. It's a brilliant, low cost, hugely fun class that is also well controlled.

There is plenty of resources on the net about how to make these things handle, and my car did well, although I'm not running the control motor/esc yet and everyone else was twice as fast down the straights. I was doing ok lap times considering, and wasn't last in any races (except one where I lost a battery clip).

I've definitely found a new hobby, an recommend it to everyone. I know many of you have a Tamiya Mini, so why not give racing a go?!

Nice Poeee. I have just got back into RC racing after a 5yr break to start a family.

This is from Saturday night, mine is the Green Leyland parked 'safely' behind the fence. Was only 3 Mini class cars start the night, and only one lasted to the end.

For anyone interested the Mini's feature as a demo class at this years Qld EP Titles at Meakin Park Raceway, 14th to 16th September.

The video is private :(

We had 11 Mini's at the last Geelong club day. In fact, it was the only class they run! Such a brilliant class.

EVERYONE should be doing this.

I've now got the control Hobbywing 13T 35A brushless system they use in Mini racing in Australia. Should be a fair bit quicker now, if I can control the extra power!

Hehe, the minis are hilarious. I bought an M05 for the girlfriend a few years ago, and she bashed the living s**t out of it. It looked to be too much fun and before I knew it I had one too.

My friend saw how much fun it was, and he bought one. I just bought another for my other friend, so we're all in the same class.

You can't beat them for good clean cheap fun!
