Yes, need to know how much (the other ones around aren't cheap) and was it from a major shop? Thanks for posting.

I have a 4gb one from Watto, black with a white roof and stripes. I got it about 5 years ago for $40.

Ah I think it was about $20 for an 8Gb, I will dig up the receipt and confirm.

Yep $20 here is the receipt. It was from one of those Blokes toys shops :)

Shows why it is not viable for us to sell them anymore.

We were importing them by the hundred, but these guys, or an Aussie distributor, is probably bringing them in by the thousand and getting a much better item rate and/or postage rate for bigger orders. We stopped selling them because the manufacturer wanted us to take the Aussie agency and buy them by the thousand, which I could not afford or justify.

Ours were $39 ($59 for the special Monte Carlo rally and Police Minis) and were 4Gb.

If you are getting for $20 and 8Gb it sounds very reasonable.

I wonder if they are available anywhere else.

Has anyone else seen any others of these?

Watto.

It shows why I stopped selling them as well. The original flash drives had minilites, clear windows, black bottem plates and were packed in a rectangular gift box, they were approved by BMW as well. Those are the ones Watto was selling I presume (Watto, you bought your first one from me in Longbridge, remember that?). The red one as posted above, is a copy, not permitted by BMW, a bit less detailed, might do the job as good as the others but less colour options and I haven't seen monte carlo versions etc. Of them.

Yes, that's correct and I certainly do, thanks. When I first saw them at Longbridge (IMM 2009) I was blown away by how good they were, the detail and everything, so made contact with the makers in China and started to import them. Sadly, price is everything these days and $20 for a dodgy-looking unauthorised version will win over $39 for a high quality, detailed and authorised version most times. And the Chinese get away with the rip-off copies all the time because they have no Copyright laws to prevent it.

Cheers,
Watto.

ebay is full of these....

they have both the cheap Chinese knock offs in all the colors, as well as the bmw official ones that have been discussed.

One day these will probably be ultra collectable because USB will be replaced and no one will know what the little metal bit is for...

it will be like the time my sister in law (much younger) looked at the record player and asked how you skipped songs....
