I test drove a BINI the other day, i was really surprised they let me near the car considering i'm on my P's (BMW insurance only covers those over 25). but i only got to drive for about 10-15 minutes, and the sales bloke was with me the whole time. Unfortunaely i was unable to drive it properly as there was heaps of traffic and roadworx around.

MY OPINION

After having driven BINI, i can acually give a decent opinion. many people say you have to actually drive it before you can pass judgement. so here we go...

It drives very nice (most new cars do...) and the handling was good.
Apparently BMW has tried to keep many features of mini in it, which were evident when pointed out.
It is VERY roomy!
the dash conrtols are laid out very nicely

But ultimately, its just another new car that is sorta shaped like the mini. as i didnt get to drive it properly, i wasn't really impressed. but i was very impressed by the manner of the sales bloke, there was no pressure to buy.

so before you bag BINI, drive it. but now I can bag it

yeah mate a 10 minute drive where you "couldnt drive it properly" would definately put you in a position to bag it

BMW let me test drive my Cooper S - and I was 19 at the time. BMW Insurance would cover me as well so I don't know why they won't cover you.

Building on what Babes said, you obviously drove the car with a view to disliking it.

yeah i ahvent really liked it up until recently, and even now i'm not a huge fan. the bloke at the BMW dealership said about the insurance only covering those over 25, mayube it varies from dealer to dealer

but if you want to test drive the BNI, go to the dealership, the worst they are going to do is say no. and if you are fully licenced and over 25 they won't say no anyway.

Like I said, even if you're not they will let you - although that may depend on how you come across etc / what car you rock up in (proving you have the money i.e. you're not driving an old VB commo)

I got a test drive within 5mins of pulling up and talking, and 'twas a Cooper S too. Like I said I was 19 at the time.

after my recent stint at dealership it was compulsary to ask EVERYONE if they wanted a test drive, providing they had a licence they could drive it.

Auto Classic in Perth...it is policy at every MINI dealership, infact the sales reps can get into strife if they dont offer a test drive.
