Hello,

I am probably going to sound really dumb here, but I am sort of looking for a new mini and am wondering about engine size.
when I look at them on car websites they all say 1.6L and i know you can supercharged ones, will it say something different to 1.6L? That seems to be all I'm finding.

Forgive me if this sounds really stupid but I don't know much about them

Thanks

Gem

hi gemma, yes they are all 1.6,early models were supercharged, later are turbo,i have driven both, and own a supercharged model,im a bit biased i prefer supercharged, although later turbo models are 20% more fuel efficient.hope this helps cheers andy...

Easiest way to tell is the supercharged cars have a hole in the moddle of the bonnet.

All Cooper S have a bonnet scoop and twin pipes out the back, and a Cooper S badge. :)
The early models were Supercharged 1.6L and had smaller twin pipes out the back, except for the JCW kitted cars.
The later model Cooper S (Model R56) have a larger twin pipes out the back.
The Cooper cars are OK but the Cooper S models are much nicer to drive and cruise better on the highway and also much more fun. :)

cool thanks heaps guys!

Just gotta talk my husband into it now, its supposed to be a car for him and he wants a wrx.

he test drove a 2006 mini, without turbo or supercharged and said he was a little disappointed with how it went up the freeway, so thats why I was thinking maybe something a bit quicker might make him change his mind

Tell him to get an insurance quote for the WRX - that might sway him in favour of the MINI.
