Hi everyone,

Has anyone fitted the JCW Recaro seats to an R53 Cooper S?

I seem to remember that i found them online once (many moons ago) but now i cant recall where i saw them.

Does anyone know where to source the seats or has anyone ever fitted the R56 JCW Recaros before. I have seen the seats available in the UK with or without airbags but i dont know if it is possible to fit these due to maybe having different mounts and airbag connectors?

Any thoughts/ideas/opinions etc would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I responded before but its gone now....can't remember what I put exactly but the gist is:

The original JCW R53 seats (sparco) wouldn't be legal for you to fit, as they have no airbags.

Current R56 seats will fit or can be made to, cost is about $6000ea from BMW.

Recaro Sportster CS seats are available from Recaro Australia and are the same as
the r56 JCW seats, just without the logo. They are $2500ea + a fitting kit ($400ea).

thanks for that Harley, i asked one of the mods to delete the other post, i placed it in the wrong spot.

i can get the r56 jcw's for around 1500 each from UK but im sure the freight would be a bit too so probably making them 2k - 2.5k each which is getting up there a bit. and these are the airbag type too, non airbag ones are around 1250 each but i would be concerned about insurance so would need to check that (ie, removing a safety item).

this puts them around the same mark as the recaro sportster CS but i would prefer to try and get the matching colours in leather but that isnt critical.

maybe i will get lucky and someone will have a set they want to dispose of at a reasonable price :)

cheers

Email Recaro, I'm pretty sure the seats come in a range of colours.
When I enquired, they also said they can get new covers to match the existing.

I have a couple of Recaro seats (with air bags) in my R50. Recaro in Moorabbin did a nice job matching colours. They have the fitting kits etc. and do a nice job. 8)
