Looking for a r53 S or newer as a daily as my 74 is being restored. I'm looking though cars and a lot seem to be over the 200,000kms. So my question is as a mechanic would an engine make it much more

Most newer cars the engines are good for 500,000km with an average of 20-30000km per year is about normal. Just make sure there is a regular service history and get a pre-purchase inspection done. Other things will go before the engine. Transmission, CV's, wheel bearings, suspension, steering and brakes should be checked closely.

I understand about the other things. I'm mainly concerned about a supercharged engine having to be rebuilt after 200-300

Thats luck of the draw though. I've seen R53s with over 300,000 on them, but mine only made it to 110,000 before the supercharger went kaput and that was costly enough!
