I have a stock standard 850 and am looking towards changing out to a newer 998 or 1100. Is there any worthwhile mods that can be done without major engine work to gain some extra horses on a standard 850? |

Most mods which are applicable to bigger engines will work on an 850 to some degree. David Vizard's books have good ideas. |

I have an 850 with a 202 head, but never got to test it out much because the primary leaked oil into the clutch and killed it. I've since moved on to 1098s. I wouldn't bother, make sure it is all perfectly tuned as stock and enjoy the period experience. |

i got a mini wrote: Fit a 998 cc crank Won't fit without machining either the block, or the crank webs. Main bearings are wider on an 850. Back in the 60s I fitted several 1098 cranks and pistons into 850 blocks. Slight mods to the conrods. Put a 998 or 1098 motor (more torque) into it. |
