I was wondering if anyone has tried to fit a turbo kei or similar engine from a suzuki cappucino dihatsu move, mira etc into a mini. If so is there any links to information?

Nope- I've looked in a Mira and thought about it, that's all. Easier to go buy a Mira and turbo it... it'd make a good sleeper... fancy getting blown away by one..! :P

<edit> I had a few rides in a stock 850?cc Mira into town and back lately- boy they have some torque compared to my old Morris 850! 4th gear pulls really well.

I looked into fitting a suzuki alto works 2wd 660cc turbo motor and gearbox.
The motor and gearbox measure up well in the round front mini - but it's the engine mounts, drive shafts that stopped me from doing it as I could find no one to make them up at the time.
Also your insurance company may not want to cover you any more with a jap motor.

I still reckon the Nissan March MA Turbo (Micra body) donk is worth a look.

930cc 4 cylinder with a Turbo AND a Supercharger! It runs 7 sec 0-100 completely stock in a Micra (810kg). So what would it do in a Mini (approx 600kg) with the boost tweaked and an intercooler fitted!! 8)

There is one Micra engined Mini in Melbourne, but it runs the standard 1275cc DOHC Micra donk.

Funny thing about Micras - they came it two capacities in Oz - 998cc and 1275cc! The bore and stroke of these engines are the same as the A series of the same capacity! Surely no coincidence!

Looks like a similar amount of work to fitting a Suzuki GTi donk. The Micra engine seems to be a bit more compact. But the Micra 1275 has less power than the Suz GTi.

I would expect the supercharged and turbo'd donk would require more space as the Turbo is at the front. But it should fit into a Clubman okay.

The local wrecker has a complete Micra SLX with 68,000km on the click which has been hit in the right rear corner. It's been sitting there for months - nobody must want Micra parts. Must go back with a tape measure! I've been tempted to ask how much for the whole car.... 8)

The same wrecker also has a complete Corolla 1.6 Twin Cam 4AGE engine and box with loom and computer etc. But the gearbox on that one is HUGE!

Warwick Agustin used to race a Mini with a 4AGE or similar in it, can't remember what the box was though.

Aaaaahhhh, the 4AG-ZE..... my all time favourite motor. A few tweaks to it, eg: TRD cams, increased boost, internals lightened.... would push my old MR2 up the quarter mile in 13.0 seconds - and that car was 1100Kgs!!! So, squeeze it into the rear of a mini (as in a mid-engine, rear wheel drive setup)..... we'd be talkin low 12's ....... uh-oh, i'm gonna need tissues

....and the toyota 5 speed wouldnt fit in the front either, way too wide... but its a very nice gearbox - smooth-feeling cable short-shift 8)

If I remember rightly, that car had a clubman front with the webers hanging through the grille? :?

If it is the same car, it had the 4AGE engine adapted to fit on the Mini gearbox. wonder how long the gearboxes lasted!

In my opinion, if you're going to fit a non-A series engine, you might as well use the matching five speed as well. 8)
