From memory my Performance Superlites (like on the avatar) cost $660 for a set new, with nuts. So yes, $165 a wheel sounds right! If you get 10" rims, tyres will for the most part be cheaper and easier to source, but I guess that limits your brake selection if you want those Honda brakes and no flares. I've got S discs and flares so it wasn't an issue for me.

From what I'm told, $100 a tyre is pretty cheap for 12" rims, a mate of mine was ringing round a while back and got quoted around $130 a tyre for good tyres (Yokies or Falken, can't remember).

They are Performance brand by the way. Mine have 'PERFORMANCE' stamped on the rim. It is the actual wheel type which is Superlite, not the brand. They're beginning to become very common, I've seen them in bigger sizes on Cortinas, even Peugeots.

It was my impression that the 10x5 Superlites only came in one offset.

Anto.

errr what's a good compromise tyre then?

I called bob Jane, they are Superlites not "performance" brand...??

12x5 Superlites wheel only $185 each
10x5 Superlites wheel only $165 each
Tyres areound $100 each

 :?

When I asked about offsets they said they can supply any offset you want... they said to check out the superlite website and quote them a model number

The white ones look great
the rims in the website arent the rims you can get in aus, performance superlites are made in adelade aus not UK ;)

tempre tyres also have a very good after sales service, i bought the rims and over tightened the wheel nuts and stripped the thread, :? i have since been sent 16 wheel nuts for free, i would whole heartedly recomend tempe to anyone as they have looked after me very well.

Be careful with those nuts- they are prone to strip. I've seen it on Josh's car. I don't think the nut material is so good.. and there's not much stud thread length in the nut either.

Nice wheels though!
I think I'd modify them for Contessa nuts and washers, if they were mine...

Contessa nuts are a sleeve nut- they go inside the wheel, which has a chromed steel tapered washer mounted in it for the nut to seat in.
If you run with Contessa wheel nuts loose and it chews up the washers, you can change them. In fact when you buy new nuts, the washers come with them.

OTOH, if you run the Performance wheel with the nuts loose, it will shag the wheel..

<edit> I'll post a pic of the Contessa nut when I find it.

I'd better watch that! I gave up using the original Mini brace ages ago coz you couldn't get the nuts tight enough. I use a proper cross brace or breaker bar now (ever since that interesting occasion with my contessas where two wheel studs snapped off!)

Yeah the jellybean mags (alloys) have the same style as that. Except the rod part of it isnt quite as long. True that it does have the tapered washer thing tho 8)

yeh i have some ( 4)of those nuts, i was thinkin of using them, but it means another $75-80 which i cant afford at the moment :( also an *UPDATE*on those wheels and no spacers, they will run without spacers, IF the weights in the centre of the wheel are rermoved and replaced with outer rim weights. the caliper clears the inside of the wheel except that weight :? so maybe you could fit a 5mm spacer ? its so damn close
