you can't really rice a mini unless you completely mutate it.

it's the wrong regional food anyway..

if you add heaps of chrome, fog lights, or even genuine parts you'd have to call it a "bangers and masher"...;)

Yeah I think so. Same motor, different badge...? Probably were more of 'em on the road than Pulsars.. 8)

My question though- is the Pulsar N12 a Nissan motor, or the GMH Family 2 or whatever they called it back then..?? I thought those Astra/Pulsars were 1.8L not 1.6?

Any Nissan lovers here?

I have 6 dizzies, 2 are Astra ones... They are virtually the same, both have the D4R83/85 printing on the side, even a little nissan emblem, but the body's of the dizzy's are cast slightly different.... Mechanicals seem identical.... and shaft length, width etc is all the same....

Also, i looked over the Astra motor briefly at pick and pay less on the weekend (as i was taking the dizzy from it 8) ), it LOOKS the same as the pulsar motor... Kev, reckon its worth spinning up the Astra dizzy's on my archaic little testing system at work?

Wouldn't hurt.
But if numbers on dizzy are the same as Pulsars, I bet the advance curve is too. 8)

Not a Nissan lover, but I know a bit from my Fast Fours and Hot 4's reading period.

N12 Pulsar (and Astra) had a Nissan built engine. CA15 or CA16 I think it's called? N12 Pulsar and equivalent Astra are identical except badges, grille, lights and trim bits. Typical mid-80's badge engineering!

N13 Oz spec had the crap Holden Family II engine (otherwise known as a Camira engine!). N13 came out in 1987 I think with different bodyshell and a funny little rocker cover with scallops out of it to clear the head studs.

Yeah thanks, I wasn't sure what came first, the Crappo Camira motor or the N12...
