Anyone need a replacement for the instument voltage stabilizer I can provide an electronic one. Seeing I get the unit for nix I won't charge for it but you will need to send me a stamped self addressed small padded mail bag. - some assembly required - you'll need to crimp connectors onto the wires I'll solder onto the unit. If you can supply some hook up wire it would help - about 6 inches x 3 (red, black and white as a suggestion) will give you plenty to play with and you can trim to length when you add the terminals.

This is for NEG earth, for POS earth it is a little more complicated and there would be a small charge as I need to added other components and it is a bit of a fiddle.

Email your request and I'll reply with address details

The original was a mechanical device that had a wire wound around a bi-metal strip attached to a set of contact points. As the current flowed through the wire coil it heated up and caused the bi-metal contacts to open this turned the current off and they closed causing the current to flow again. This cycled reasonably quickly causing a steady voltage across the contacts.

As with all things mechanical and electrical contacts, they fatigue/burn/fail in time. The electronic version has no moving parts, produces a stable, constant 10 volts, which is required for the gauges to operate, and will last the life of the vehical - baring massive power surges, lightning strikes and hooking it up the wrong way round
