Hi people's

Any one know if you can ajust a MK1 Fuel Gauge. I have read some where that you can but I can't find the paper work  It also had informtion about a Clubman dash. Sue and Morris keep running out of petrol at 1/4.
I know I can bend the Sender pole and may do this if I dont another idea
Cheers

More likely the sender is bent than the gauge needs adjustment. Gauge either works or...not.
If you must tinker, there's a little screw in back of the gauge, according to DK Lawson on MiniPortal..

Could also be the Voltage stabilizer is shafted....

hey my gauge sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Is that the voltage stabilizer too?

More likely the sender, or a loose wire. If the Temp gauge is OK it's not the V stabilizer.

Voltage stabalizer I don't think I have one. I believe its a big black box and I have not seen one on Morris or Marcia for that matter

You're thinking of the voltage regulator.
Stabilizer is a little tiny box behind speedo, 3 wires.

Put a V meter from ground to output when ign is on, motor running, should read 10V. If it reads 12V+ or 0, it's stuffed..

I'll check it on the weekend.
If you want, check V between ground (black wire on back of speedo) and the green/black? wire that goes down from stabilizer to fuel gauge.
Basically the stabilizer provides a 10V output to the temp and fuel gauges, except on real early 850s etc that had the `quick' fuel gauge.

Heres a wierd one, my temp guage, which i bougt new from minispares UK not that long ago does wierd things, WHen the car warms up and is being driven it reads of the richter, when i pull up at the lights the needle quickly settles to about the middle of the guage.... My Fuel guage is intermitant too (also newish), Ivan has an old Smiths guage tester, you pull the wires of the sender and plug them into it, It has three settings you can set it too, empty, half and full, My guage worked fine on that, so the intermitance is most be in my sender unit.... I tried to do the test when the guage wasn't working, but when i plugged it back up after it was working, so i dont know if i achieved anything :x

Gareth, check the volts going to the temp gauge. If over 10V it will read high.
When the stabilizer dies it often fuses the contacts, so you get battery voltage thru it, up to 14.3V or so.

Same thing will happen if you don't have a stabilizer...
