Hey if you are running Yokohama A008s with tubes, beware!

The little diagonal ribs inside the sidewalls can chafe the tube and wear holes in it.
I know this because2 days ago I got a slow leak, then a fast flat- when we took the tube out you could see the chafing marks.

Run 'em tubeless. I did until I ran over some screws at work... next time, I'll patch inside the tyre instead..

if your running a ally rim and tyres ar going down ther is a rubber type substane you can get and paint it on the inside of the rim to stop this going on

Some tyre places will tell you that they can't put Mini tyres on 5x10 Contessas etc without a tube, because there's no `safety humps' in the rim, so the tyres might roll off the wheel seats and deflate...

Reason there's no safety humps is you would stretch the beads and stuff the 10" tyres if there were. They just fit on without the humps!

I've tried real hard to roll 10" tyres off the seats, on the track, and it just doesn't happen!

So my advice is, don't fit tubes- if your tubeless tyre gets a puncture fix it with a patch inside, not by putting a tube in... 8)

Hey doc, when ya put the tubes in, did ya use any talcum powder when ya installed em???

EDIT..... Nearly every tyre out there has some form of ribs on the inside.

We run Tubeless tires all the time without any "safety hump" on 11 inch split rim wheels. Anything above 20 psig seats the tire perfectly, and breaking the bead is a bastard once they're seated.

Nah, the tyre dude put them in dry (well the new tube was a little dusty with something, when he took it out of the box, might have been that stuff).

When I replace the tyres in 5-6 months, I'll fling the tubes. Only 2 of the tyres have got 'em in- one was nearly new when it copped a screw through the corner of the tread. Couldn't patch it there, and I didn't want to lose a new tyre.

yeah, nobody will repair damage anywhere near the sidewall, i've lost a couple tyres that way.

The purpose of the talc is to act as a dry lubricant which is meant to stop the chafing between the tube and tyre. Obviously he hasnt used any, or not enough to work properly.

Ah well, we live and learn.
