Ive recently bought an old clubbie for it's 7.5" discs, but i keep finding nice little suprises on it like the 12G295 head
, the car only cost me $1250!!!
I was wondering what a 12G295 is actually worth in half decent condition. From what i know they are getting a little rarer these days and it may be worth a few bob. Can anyone tell me what you would expect to pay for one?
I am currently planning on fitting it to my own car, a 1115cc with a mild camshaft, maniflow mid bore LCB, Weber 40DCOE etc but it has a standard 12G202, so the 295 would probably give a nice performance increase. Only problem being the chambers are bigger and i will have to get it skimmed to bring compression back up.
Forget the 202 head. The 295 is at
least a 6 Hp increase at the wheels is standard form on 998.
Be careful though. If the head needs reconditioning, make sure there is not too much seat retension as the valves in these heads are as big as they will go already. The only way to fix them is to insert them.
That can be expensive. My 295 head that I just had done cost me $700......but it is like brand new! (and I can run unleaded)
I looked into a good secondhand one, and anyone that has one knows what it is. at least $600 for one ready to bolt up. More for recon.
At that price it is often cheaper to find a worked 202
