Im interested in fitting a twin dtm exhaust to my 93 mini and i was wondering if anyone knew anyone who installs them and has this type of exhaust.
Any other suggestion on a type of exhaust to fit to get the best tone out of a A series engine would be much apreciated

Cheers

I would not personally fit a twin system as if it come striaght of the strags they will not work correctly. I think that the single 1.75 Straight system and a small straight throuh muffler (Mine is a Perry) Sounds great. The max size system would be 2 inch but not recommended form the smaller engines as the is not enough back pressure.

LCB extractors into 1.75"inch system straight through RC40 muffler and exiting in the centre of car. Classic setup that cannot be beaten!

I've had a few centre exit systems over the years. I find they are more prone to break the mountings, get dragged on things easier, and you tend to get more fumes in the car.
No disagreement about an RC40- they are brilliant- but I like mine in the usual place, out the side!

While we are on the subject, are there any advantages/disadvantages of having the twin box rc-40 unit compared to just the muffler?

Does the single box just make more noise (I already have a single and it sounds great).

Planning on putting one on the girlfriends mini, and was looking through the Karcraft catalogue and noticed they have the twin box and the link pipe. Thought it might be easier to just buy that then buying the single and getting the link pipe bent into shape etc.

any opinions on the single vs twin box RC40?

Not used one but I believe it's just less noise. Reduced `boom' around 2500-3000 rpm.

Being a SPi does that requre any different equipment or is it the same as the carbs. Thinking LCB extractors 1.75 through to a RC-40 side exit.

fuz answered this in another thread when you asked about mini places in WA 'gillam avenue in kelmscott' im not from WA and have no idea where that is. maybe try looking some places up in the yellow/whitepages if you havent already.

also, im sure karcraft wouldnt have any problems sending you a set of extractors. email sales@karcraft.com.au and ask them, and get a price list sent to you (its free) while your at it. i think their extractors are around $200 but they are Maniflow from the UK.

Another option is look for a place near you that does exhuasts and headers and get some made up, Geanie exhausts around here makes custom headers.
