Hi. Ok i have read the topic earlier but...
I don't think i have extractors. Its a standard 998 with HS4 carbie.
Would LCB extractors be OK?
Is that 1.75" from the extractors?
Would i get an RC40 muffler? any better?
Or a straight through with a resonator?
What would be most suitable for me and how much would it cost.
Can i take it to, say, Midas?
Anyone in adelaide please recommend me a place to get it done.

get some LCB extractors and 1.75" with RC40 muffler...usually sounds and works a dream!

ul have to also get a new intake manifold for ur HS4 as the standard is one piece with the standard manifold.

dont see why any muffler place couldnt do it but personally, i dont like midas' $2 per hour apprentices that do the work on the car.

You can get an a 4" angle grinder or a hacksaw, and carefully cut the existing exhaust manifold off, keeping the inlet part intact.

But then the manifold won't locate on the head. I build the ends of it up with weld (MIG or oxy weld) then file it to slide neatly onto the studs.
Some people put little steel dowel pins thru it into the head instead- I find my way easier. :wink:

<edit> many Mini places keep these inlet manifolds for sale but want $$$ for them..

This is what i did on my 1098, worked quite well, just be careful when cutting, Itd be pretty easy to put a hole in the inlet. Definitley wouldnt bother trying to save the exhaust part of the joint manifold, although i remember reading somewhere it can be done (David Vizard?).

We ended up linning up the inlet on the head, and marking it all out and welding a couple of washers on made it very easy to locate.
