gday ppls...

now just 2 questions tonight, first is when I pull my fuel tank out to weld on a bigger fuel pipe and fuel return, should I just use water to swish round inside it( when its empty of course) before i start welding, or is there a special thing u can buy for it? i dont wanna get blown up :P

and

cutting the hole in the bulk head, and tips here? thanks guys...

Take the tank somewhere, don't do it yaself. I'm sorry, but the idea of wealding a fuel tank just plain scares me!

:shock: dont try weld petrol tanks yourself, definitley take it to someone. ive heard heaps of horror stories on this one...

I agree with the others re welding it... and I'm a certified welder...!

1. You shouldn't really need a bigger fuel pipe out of the tank. After the electric pump, sure..

2. Easiest way I know to rig a return line is remove fuel gauge sender, weld a pipe into sender, and refit. :wink:

Serious surgical butchery is involved..

I'd do it like James (kazjim) did on his 998 turbo- put it above the clutch housing. :wink:

Borrow a mig for the firewall, its user friendly.

PT tank can be steamed or water filled but remember that petrol floats so weld from the bottom up.

After filling with water, a buddy braised to the outside a larger pipe then drilled it up the centre to open the tank. Seemed to work

Putting a turbo box in the firewall is not simple like fitting a Weber box. You have to cut right down thru the crossmember, which seriously weakens the car. Re-shaping it back inside the car is essential. Get it engineered if you do it... :?

I've not done one, but I've seen a couple- and if I was fitting a turbo to my Mini there's no way I would put it there. I'd put it above the clutch, where you can get at the sucker and work on it. 8)

I spoke to a friend about welding a fuel tank and he said that you could fill it up with water and weld it. so it wont blow up.
