Actually, could you talk me through the cooling system you have setup please? I see something returning to a sandwich plate where the thermo housing is and stuff going into the firewall. I'm interested as I sourced a similar thing and I'd like to know what goes where in your setup if you don't mind.

The sandwich plate is the std MPi version but there was no space for the sensor at the normal spot.
It's blanked off there.
Tapped into the stat housing twice, once for EWP sensor and second spot for ECU sensor.
Hoses into f/wall are heater in and out.

Thanks. So the water goes from the sandwich plate to the heater then into the bottom hose?

So electric thermo fan only on the back of the radiator? Will that be enough to cool it?

The coolant circulates like this; pumped round by EWP.
Hot in the cyl head is passed thru the stat housing (no stat) and temp is read by the sensors.
EWP and elect fan cycle on / off accordingly. Coolant goes thru top hose to rad and out via bottom hose.
Pumped back into engine.
If the heater valve is closed, no change to above.
If valve is opened, coolant is additionally routed via the heater matrix.
Hope this helps :)

Should be. Airflow when moving forward will cool off and fan is the suck version to pull air thru when required.
EWP has several stages of operation depending on sensed temp.
Am also using Evans coolant.

Perfect thanks mate! I want an EWP myself, it's the only regret I have in my build. I decided to not add anymore complexity but I should have done it.

Quick update;
Finally got oil pressure after much cranking. Removed the plugs and finally the gauge registered.
Being a Mini the first it did was leak oil at the gauge take-off.
The supplied throttle cable outer tube pulled thru the hole in the bulkhead.
Have replaced with the stock MPi version and used the supplied (longer) cable. Works well.
Had a fuel leak with a stuffed injector O ring (my fault). It's easier to replace that than get to the spark plugs. The leads were connected as shown by the numbers embossed on the top of the coil pack but that was all wrong and produced some spectacular back fires. Got that sorted.
Calibrated the TPS and the starter played up. Thought at first that the immobiliser was the problem but it was the battery. Although new, because of all the cranking it was down a bit.
With some jump leads on the motor fired up!!

Great news :)

Re the oil leak at the gauge take-off, I might be telling you something you already know, but I was told by a specialist gauge shop that parts of those connections are a one-shot deal. They crush as they are tightened. If you disassemble the connection, then you really need to replace parts of the connection. I think that applies to the ferrule type component that joins the hose to the connector, rather than the connector itself of you know what I mean. That could be one thing to look at to stop the leak?
