Hey IchhabeeinbischenAuto,

I have a spare 1098 engine at home that was running when I took it out of the mini... It seemed to be in ok condition although I never really bothered having a proper look at it...I have the manifold, carbie etc for it too...

I might be convinced to part with it if you were interested...

Big Dan

998 and 1098 blocks ARE the same height, bore, room inside etc. Basically same casting.. different engine #..

You can fit :
998 pistons and crank, or
1098 pistons & crank, or
Hillman Imp pistons & 1098 crank (if offset bored to 68.0mm) gives 1220cc. Not all blocks bore to this successfully, and you then need to rip about .140" off the deck so the pistons are somewhere near it.

I have also (years, nay- eons ago) put 1098 crank-rods-pistons into 850 blocks. But this needs the 850 block and main caps machining to make room. Not worth the trouble now- plenty of 998/1098 blocks about.

Thanks for the offer Dan, but I won't actually be in the country for the next 5 months so it's not something I plan on doing till the end of the year,

would it be cheaper to put the 1098 crank and pistons in a 998 or to buy a 1098??

Either way thanx for the help guys.
