So I should be fine if I stick to a 7000 rpm limit and the RE282 will work well? Keeping in mind I have a heavily worked cylinder head and running 11:1 compression ratio with a 45 weber.
The car as it is runs very nice and smoothly, just lacks grunt...

RH tank cos I needed it crossing the Nullarbor etc..

Have another look at my dyno results

With the standard rockers, i limit to 7000 because power peaks at 6500, meaning ideal gearchange is just a little higher. The torque is flat and huge over a wide band.

Both Kev's and mine are larger than standard capacity and near 11:1, modified heads, but different chambers and both work very well. Mine has 45DCOE weber and is tuned to this motor. With the 1.5:1 rockers the limit will move up to 7500, because i expect the power to move up the band a bit.

My brief to Graham was for a strong and reliable motor for sprints, track days and the like. Kev obviously uses his on the road. I don't have to rebuild it every year and i am very happy with the way it performs.

So yes i would say that cam will work well with what you are contemplating, up to 7000rpm, but you will just have to suck it and see.

cheers
michael

Hi Doc and others,

What sort of hp gain is there to be had by changing from 1.2 to 1.5 ratio rockers? Would it be significant or are we only talking about 4-5 hp?

Thanks

Mikal

I'd say 4 or 5HP, it also pushes the torque and HP rpm peaks higher. Gives yer 1275 more `top end sizzle'. :P

Thanks Doc. Having read that I may well try the RE282 setup with the rockers I have and see what eventuates. Can always go ahead with the 1.5's later on if need be..

Just make sure you use springs that will allow the valve lift that 1.5 rockers give with that cam. I think mine has .493" lift
on the inlets. I run C-AEA526 springs. Have worked fine up to 8000 rpm, but I don't go that far now.
