Is it possible to swap the doors from a mini K with those from a Mk1 or mk2 car ?

I fitted mk2 "wind up" doors to a mk1. I slotted the latch on the door post so they shut properly. The buffer needed to be mounted on the pillar, it will need a new hole drilled for the different hole spacing on the buffer.

This was only done to put together a very scrappy project to sell, for someone to make a tube frame racecar, or whatever, but the doors worked perfectly like this.

It's generally a better idea to use the correct doors for the car, but mk1 doors are getting rare and expensive.

*EDIT* I think you mean for a K? I didn't see your typo. I have no idea about the burst proof door latches.

The "flappy handle" Mini K is one of the more unusual models as they were only made for a short time. Most people would want to keep those original doors on a K.

The K's were built with two different types, the later flush handled "burst Proof" type and the earlier "cyclist stabber type"

I think you will find if you have the Flush Handle type your car may be fitted with an ADR compliance plate (as was the reason these handles were introduced) in which case you can't legally modify from one handle type to the other.

You car should have wind up windows at any rate as all mini K's were delivered with them. Why do you want to change them?

Specifically this one, ADR 2. Effective January 1, 1971.

I think the shortest answer is the clubman style doors cant be swapped with mk1 / mk2 doors as the B pillar is a different shape slightly i believe.
1 / 2 can be swapped with the changes oulined above by Andrew.

Also, the left hand door won't fit on the right hand side. :-) :-)
