Hi guys,

Still on the CV issue, is there a fitting difference between 850 and 998 CV's (smaller CV) and Cooper S CVs (Larger CV)??

I figure, since I am going to change the CV anyway, why not pay alittle extra and put in the Cooper S CV? Or am I hugely mistaken? Is there a way to make them fit on Drum brake cars?

Thanks!
Chong

The CV used on a Cooper S or 8.4" disk braked Mini is very different one to used on drum braked Minis and the Cooper (non S).

If you are fitting S Disks or 8.4" disks to a drum braked Mini you must use the disk type CV's. Drum ones will not fit. :(

I think that kit you were looking at using included the correct CV's anyway! 8)

On the other hand if fitting Honda discs you don't want the S style CVs. They only fit the drum type (which is handy, 'coz everybody has about 3 or 4 sets of 'em..) 8)

Yes I know, unfortunately I don't have that kind of cash to spalsh out on the whole disc brake setup :? at least not right away anyway. I was hoping to go half way with the CVs at least... i guess not then

In fact I probed around under the car today and had a very close look at what is going on under there, it seems that I will need to do a whole undercar rebuild sometime in the near future, subframe renewal and respray etc. Although it's not rusty under there, it's very dirty and dirt encrusted. Nearly all the boots are torn or worn under the front of the car. Looks tired generally. I think I'll take it to the shop and just plonk $3000 on the table and say "make her shine like new under there and gimme those damn discs" :)

Also Doctor, I found out I have the big bump stops already installed in the rear! 8) sweet! they are in good shape and will save me $$ :)

Hey there are 3 different rear bumpstops..
Mini Deluxe etc early are conical, like the front ones. NFG.
Later cars (not sure from when) have a BIG SQUARE rubber block with a horizontall hole. Still NFG....

Competition ones (that you want) look like round cylinder with a vertical hole in them. :P

Thanks for the info! I will replace em with the AHH7074 kit :D
