Hi all,I need advise.Im building 0'80" overbored 1098 to my van.I also have a nice 12G202 with bigger valves etc. It's been skimmed and the chamber volume is 24cc.I need to get compression ratio down to 10:1.My question is how much there is meat on top of these pistons? Is it possible machine dishes which are about 5cc?
Cheers,
Tomi

Don't machine the pistons, open the chambers out around the valves for better breathing.
Edit
And if running 98 fuel you can go to 10.5:1 or so.

You can make those chambers much bigger.
[edit] When decking these old heads it's wise to stop at .075". The deck is thin in places with corrosion and won't clamp the gasket well if you rip more off.
