My recent experience with aftermarket rocker shafts with solid spacing makes me look back at BMC original with springs and Keith Dodd with springs .
The springs maintain constant load and nil maintenance. There are people in Oz can custom make em for a 17mm shaft .
Pros and cons please gurus.Jap stuff like Corollas used springs

I like springs for fast road motors. Am running Minispares 1.5 forged ones (Keith Dodd) on my 1360, have had it up to 8300 and work fine.
On the 1412 stroker, I ran 1.44 Corollas with Mini springs.

+1 for using the BMC spacer springs. I tried the solid spacers, but even using about 5-10 thou clearance it was rattly and also took ages to set the clearances to avoid any binding. Put rocker spacer springs back on and it was much quieter.

And if you go for the Minispares forged rockers double-check your valve lift and springs for coil bind. My set gives about 1.65 ratio, this number is based on getting 10.5mm lift at valve with the Kent MD266 cam.
