Or any of the other very capable cylinder head specialists.

Inflammatory, provocative and argumentative posts have been deleted. This is meant to be a nice place to discuss all things Mini without personal attacks on individuals or businesses.

I never thought I'd have to say this but if you can't or won't abide by Ausmini Forum rules then keep quiet, or leave.

Good to hear.

Feel free to start a topic on the pros and cons of rimflo valves. Healthy discussion and debate is encouraged. That's how we all learn. Just don't attack someone who presents a different view.

So it looks like lots of good options in OZ
So does anyone advertise flow figures for the work that you are paying for.

and if it is a proven method of increasing horsepower, is that really necessary? :|

How do you know it's proven with out facts and figures

What facts and figures are required. Before and after flow measurements? Before and after dyno stats? A good flowing head isn't going to be the be all and end all but it will help. You need to have everything else to go with it.
I see it at work all the time, people buy a part from here, another from there and then something shiny on ebay and expect that to work. You need to plan your build, figure out what you want to use the vehicle for and stick with it. No deviations.
Just my thoughts, cheers

Well...when you get the rush after lightly pressing the go pedal...and ya say...Phhoooaaar!!

[after having your particular engine configuration properly tuned or even dyno'd by someone who knows what they are doing]

I have seen some videos from "Engine Masters" (produced under MotorTrend Channel) and although it's all V8 stuff they still touch on a WHOLE heap of different combinations, intelts, cams, heads, valves, etc etc.
The point im making is a good head on the wrong engine will improve it, however if that same head is on a matched engine with matched accesories then it will really perform.
You can't expect even a CNC'd head (or any part) to make say 20% more power just by bolting it on. Yes if a head has proof of it's flow rate that is great but power is upto all the other parts not just the head.

I have a head on my S that I spoke to GR about.
It is a 12g940 and the reputable guy then retired made it look great with huge intake ports and used 1100s inlets for fear of cracking between valves.
I drove the car and we took the head off.My mate at a local machine shop fitted 1.401 inlets under my instruction and the difference was noticeable.
Then fitted 1.5 rockers .Even more difference.
The gains are in the valve and bowl and not in the port runner.
The big ports have detracted from low to mid performance
Valve lift versus flow curves are awesome but rarely seen

Ian, that helps answer a question for me. I have a 295 head as well as an option. Looking at your post, the bigger inlet valve would hopefully give better performance.

Lots and lots to consider .Valve shrouding , port bias, valve profile , valve seat ,short side radius shape.
Copy Vizard or go with a pro preferably with figures
