Has anyone put on of these in thier Mini with points.

I'v had problem with a fluttering and Morris not revving out. They '(Franks) have also replaced the resistor. Both were both placed new at the same time. I have used this coil on many coils and had no problems.

I had one (3 ohm, without resistor) on my 1310 when I had points. No probs- it's now firing a 1220 Morris Minor...

I have another (1.5 ohm, with resistor) on the Clubbie, no problems.

Both above are the old normal shape oil-filled ones.

I currently have a new style one (3 ohm GT40-T) on mine with a Pertronix.

I've never had a problem with Bosch coils.

<edit> check your points are not closed up close, it can cause just what you describe. Also look for loose or frayed wires on coil or the breaker plate in dizzy.

I have never had a problem with GT40's but cant say which one it is. Frank's fixed it and I pick up Morris on Wednesday and hopfull staight of to get a rego check, almost a month over and then back on the road again. Yer HA. oy yer the wife will be happy to drive to work again also.

and running nicely and Hopfully will Rego Inspection with no problmes.
Now they had to add a Ballast Resisto. Why I don't think I have a Ballast System.

You may have had a 1.5 ohm GT40 coil (marked `use with resistor').
What happens if you run these without a resistor is, they get too hot (& can break down) and they tend to burn the points out prematurely.

If you want to use a GT40 without a ballast resistor, get a 3 ohm one that's not marked `use with resistor'. The newer GT40-T is this type.

I can't have this big white block thing (resistor) in the Enginebay so I guess its a new GT40 Coil or wait for a Electric System with a diferent Coil

They still make the old GT40s, look under the can and make sure it doesn't say `use with resistor'.

BTW the performance of both resistor/non-resistor GT40 coils is the same, just make sure you use a resistor if coil is designed for it.

First I found E 27 with 26H3T Then I found use with resistor Shite
Now this confused me, as it worked for some time and then decided to , Na not working.
Its a Electric for Morris and the the Van

I got it from Peps at Castle, Sods.

I got my Bosch GT40-T at SuperCrap Auto. They had both the old types, too.

Rumour has it that the newer type epoxy filled GT40s are prone to failure and the old design oil filled GT40s are more reliable...

My made Dave just blew the one in his race car, after GR and others said it would...
But he found the older ones are cheaper! $42.00
