Modify the Generator Regulator to maintain original wiring appearance.
The aim is to connect the output of the alternator via the regulator so the wiring appears to be mostly original looking and connected to the Regulator. In most cases the wiring is connected together in untidy bundles and not connected to the regulator.
To allow for a separate connection for the Field or Ind to the Charge Indicator we use the Earth connection on the Regulator and do not connect the original earth wire (Black).
Steps to achieve this are:
1. Desolder or cut the 2 red wire that are connected to the E terminal. We will use this later to connect the thinner Brown/Green wire which goes to the Charge light.

2. Cut the brass strap connected to the D terminal and solder a wire between the D terminal and the A terminal (see 4mm red wire in pic). Clean the strap to aid soldering.

3. Cut the brass strap from the F terminal and connect a wire which connects the F terminal to the E terminal (see 3mm brown wire in pic).

4. External wiring connections using original wires. Note: connect the thinner Brown/Green wire to the E terminal. Do not connect the black earth wire!
