I'm building a 1275 bored out stage 1001 ( :D ) and I just got to the fitting of the radiator and fan.

I had purchased a 6 blade fan from Mini Spares but it seems to be VERY tight in the cowling. When it turns it scrapes along the cowling.

I also had to purchase a new thin spacer as the original thick one meant that the 6 blade fan couldn't fit between the water pump and the radiator...yes and it does make a mess of the copper radiator fins! :x

The old plastic one seems to have a few marks on it indicating that it is tight as well.

But the plastic one also seems to be marginally smaller than the 6 blade one (or possibly just an illusion).

Anybody else had issues with these and what's the solution [apart from going back to the plastic one]?

Try to find which one is hitting and bend the blade back towards the engine gently just enough to clear .

Yep I have that exact fan in my mini. When I first got it it was a nightmare and took a fair bit of fettling and adjusting to get it right. Before you start filing and modifying to get it to fit, ensure it is around the right way! Speaking from experience here!

There is something not right here.

I’ve fitted a bored out 1275 and big bore head and using the std brackets the radiator doesn’t line up straight with the wing radiator shroud.

Could be the top bracket is wrong type? Assuming they came in different types!

There are at least three different versions of the "plastic fan"... and at least two different top rad brackets..

If you go with non standard bits then its case of just mixing and matching to make it all work..

Cheers, Ian

I thought that might be the case ... groan :?

So fans: 3 types
Pulley spacers: 3 types
Radiator brackets: 2 types

18 different combinations....arrrrggghhhh.

Stick of dynamic please.
