I have got to the point in my 4E-FTE swap of fitting the gear lever and shifter cables in the cabin. The Starlet engine uses cables for gear selection which need to be routed through a hole in the the firewall. Due to the curve of the cables through the Mini firewall, the cables are not perpendicular to the firewall like in the Starlet so the Starlet grommet will not work. I'd like to get ideas on how others have sealed the cables through the firewall. Any photos would be nice too please. If you are having the Photobucket 3rd party hosting issue, you can PM me and arrange to have them emailed to me.

Hi mate
Can't help with cables but would to know more about starlet conversion
Not for my mini as I'm very happy with my 78 clubman and the 1310 I have in it
I also have a mk2 Morris 1100 that's the four ado16 which I want to put a starlet engine into
I'm in Melbourne and my mail is glenbrooker@trustmsa.com,au
Thanks , Glen

Have you seen the minitec I think kit to put a honda b16 into an Austin America, American name for a ADO16? It looks to go in nicely and much less cramped than in a mini.

I ended up using a steering rack boot for the seal. I machined a ring that mounts against the firewall

The boot then slips over this ring (with a zip tie to hold it in place) and cables passed through the boot end
