So my Allspeed engineering Honda subframe finally turned up on Tuesday

Image

I was quick to unwrap it, what a sexy piece of workmanship, I also purchased the lower arms and have already purchased their HD driveshafts and CVs

Image

I then strapped it into my car and drove to my engineer so he could inspect the frame which he gave his tick of approval to.

I start a new job working FIFO 20/10 on Monday so work will be slow from now on unfortunately.

What radiator does it use? Looks like it would be a tight fit!

It didn’t come with one, I will need to source one.. I have seen people use modified civic radiators however I’m going to some measurements I think a daihatsu sition radiator and condenser will fit

My suggestion- Try and get a proper civic one in if you can- anything smaller like a sirion one make sure it has plenty of unrestricted air flow and a good fan!

Progress has been non existent, as I have had nowhere to work on it

I have just bought a house, and a hoist. Over the next 1-2 months I will get a decent shed installed and eventually the hoist. And I’ll start working on it again.

I’d like to have it all installed and be waiting on the wiring by December but that might be ambitious.

Then next year I will tear it down, and do the body work

so i finally got a sandblaster and all associated bits and pieces to start sand blasting the calipers to restore them ready for for assembly and my (new to me) old compressor contactor crapped out on me..so i will just bolt them back together so i can get my mini moved to my new house so i can start lopping the front end off.

in other news progress on getting a shed built has ground to a halt at the moment so i will have to persevere with my current shed and equiptment, meaning no hoist :(

Finally have some even if only tiny news about progress.. the engine is back out !

I will now send it off to a local Honda specialist to get some new gaskets put in, and also get the sump repaired as it has a small leak

The subframe I made will be tossed..(maybe rebuilt off the car) and the Allspeed frame will be installed and i can get this show on the road !

also, back in August i picked up some panels from heritage so i can make my Steel Flip front

a quick update that i should have posted a few weeks ago..

i took the engine to the honda specialist in adelaide Street Level Tuning, he is a top guy and did an amazing job, Engine got the new seals installed, the clutch, turned out to be in need of replacement so got that done while i was there including regrinding the flywheel, the sump that had been leaking since i bought it turned out to be lacking the copper washer, so all the silicone was cleaned off and the sump was given a new coat of paint.

in other news the project is on hold while it is relocated from adelaide to Darwin, as i relocated for work so hopefully ill get a break from work over the months leading into december, and im fortunate to get some good weather so i can really make a dent on this project.

i also had the brakes cleaned, seals changed, and all new pistons installed as well as painted in caliper blue ready to be installed (i did start doing it myself but i was pressed for time and needed to get it done with)

and finally i got the subframe powdercoated in gloss black, to protect it from going rusty, i imagine i may need to get this done again in the future after i bolt or weld on brackets for the radiator, but hopefully i can bolt them and avoid having to do that.

and heres some pics as i know you all like pics
