Finally got around to installing my refurbed rack into the clubby, built up my diff with new output shafts, planet gears, tab'd bearings and comp pin... slowly coming back together!

Drove it to Minis at the Mill for the day... Tappet getting louder and louder on the drive up there. Not ideal.

Trailered it home, checked the clearances yesterday - Motor is now out. No doubt a trashed cam and /or follower. Motor's only done 760 miles :(

Your Ausmini signature tag line might be your curse!
But, seriously I am interested to know the final wash-up.

They seldom are cheap. Mechanical sympathies are with you.

Re-kitted 7.5" brake calipers, new seals and pistons, after calipers were blasted and zinc plated by local brake specialist.

Found out why my battery has slowly discharged for the last 20 years!
It had a 45mA parasitic current drain. After disconnecting the 2 white wires from the ignition switch they had 0.71V on them.
The culprit was the 16ACR alternator, it was discharging its 0.71V through the charge light, and into the coil with ign switch off.
Now running another NOS 16ACR I bought 15 years ago. :)

Installed diff.
Found out that I had snapped a brake line somewhere along the way.
Put on the extractors.
Half installed bottom pulley before also discovering that it wont go on flush (still TBD why) ?woodruff key or too much shim.
Mock tested belts

Went to try putting pots onto shafts before getting annoyed that I forgot there were 2 different sizes. I just happen to have one of each (shaft) and only 2x small pots. (more annoyance)
Filed down and fitted a Gemini starter.

Wrote another long list of things to do grrrr

Drained the hydro and refilled.
50/50 Nulon green glycol concentrate and de-ionized water.
I do this every 4 years or so.

Probably could but I never have.
People in USA have used this mix in hydro for many years.

I present to you one munted cam and follower. It'll need cam bearings, mains, and big ends. Crank will need a grind too.

Less than ideal.

I checked mine because it drains the battery as well, but its not leaking at the alternator... any other areas to check?
