I have 2 brand new Quinton Hazell engine mounts that I bought a while back (nobody had the good genuine Rover ones).
These QH mounts are dimensionally wrong and have been for ages.
Tomorrow (as it's raining and I'm bored) I'm going to try and slot all the boltholes in the mill, so that on assembly they will let the motor drop in properly, without needing an elephant and 20 ft long crowbar. Laughing

Wish me luck...Mr. Green

[edit] no wonder these things don't fit, their mounting holes are ~4mm out compared to a stock mount. And, they are about 1mm thicker in total.
If I slot the 3x holes up 2mm and the 2x ones down 2mm I should be near the money.

Yes, they are not right, holes are a bit more than 4 mm out though, closer to a whole hole out (~8mm). I'm not sure that there would be enough meat in them to slot the holes far enough, but every bit helps. Yes, good luck with it.

After a lot of bad words, I have actually found an easy way to get them in. Get the bolts in the radiator side first, nuts on but loose, then use a G clamp on the end of the clutch plunger lock nuts (see they do have a purpose) and under the side of the sub-frame.

Easy Peazy as Matt might say.

I just measured them all with a vernier, the holes ARE displaced 4mm. (30 vs 34) But the extra thickness makes it seem more on assembly.
Yes there is enough meat there...

holes are big, 9.5mm for a 5/16" (ie 8mm dia) bolt?? Confused

OK I've milled both of them out no problem, sitting back to back on a stock mount they now look the same, `hole position' wise.

I must have been lucky with the last few sets of Q&H engine mounts I got and fitted to peoples cars including mine . . . they fitted quite easily, no drilling nothing other than the ol' flat screw driver trick to get the holes in the right position to put the bolts in.
