whilst I hate the term JDM, I would love a mk1 mini in Almond green with eye lids, 10x7 split rims, exposed weave carbon fibre miglia arches, some flourescent red highlights like moustache (think aston martin dbr9s), mirrors and roll cage, a bike muffler at the rear.. debumpered front and rear and deseamed at the rear bumper seam.. headlight surrounds in body colour.

then cut the roof out, replace with carbon fibre.
maybe some more exposed weave goodies like bumpers and bonnet and mirrors and headlight surrounds and even overriders are available!

Interior would get 6 point cage, carbon fibre mk1 3gauge isntrument binnacle with 7" touchscreen in the middle and two analog gauges either side for oil pressure/temp and fuel gauge etc.

for even more "cool", do above to a van.

yum.

I thought about doing that to my rover at one point. Good thing I sold the car because I would've spent a fortune:

White mini, white sportspack arches, 14" black multispoke rims, lowered to crazy level, big exhaust, bonnet scoop (the type that goes into the bonnet so you can't see it from the side).

Interior would've had racing seats and a dash conversion from some Jap car. Very Happy

Don't quote me on this but I read it's Japanese Domestic Market, not that the term makes much sense. Confused

JDM does mean Japanese Domestic Market. The term JDM could be applied to any car sold in Japan new. Same with a car sold new in the US - USDM etc.

Minis were sold in Japan up until the end of production, so there are plenty of "JDM" ones in Japan. Modifying JDM style would be a bit different. Most people associate JDM with Rice. Not necessarily the same thing, but they are often kissing cousins.

It can apply to any car you want. I guess it's an appearance style thing like rat, retro or bogan.

It mainly applies to "Japanese" cars in the US.

Toyota and Honda, amongst other Japanese and Korean manufacturers, are made in the US and are of somewhat poorer build quality than their Japanese cousins cars. Often the 2nd hand price of these Japanese built "JDM" cars are higher than the similar or exact same car made in the USA because the engine specs are slightly better and the build quality is better.

The JDM cars are selected by the American Ricers because of the better specs than the US manufactured ones and a sort of cult following has erupted around these JDM cars. So it's really another American word / acronym, like SUV, that the world has to suffer with because the USA said so.

So that's how the term JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) became famous and really all it means is "Imported".

For the record - Honda are made in Ohio, Toyota are made in Kentucky.

Widest 10's you can get. Black screw on flares. Low no less than 3deg camber. Mirrors on the front guards. Maybe a cool front lip, which is a very hard thing to acheive on a Mini.

I know what ya mean, although a JDM Mini would mean a stock Rover sold new in Japan. Same style they do to KE20's in Japan.

yes exactly. I have seen something which I think was on a Japanese mini that looked quite brilliant.

My 1275 LS would look great with wiiiide all black 10's with mirrors on thr guards. Oh and a 7 port with quad throttle bodies.

yea mirror placement isn't something I'm really looking forward to doing just because if I really screw things up there's going to be holes in a painted body... Mad
