Hi,
I have a couple of sets of Hardy Spicer slip-yoke assemblies and when dragging them out a few days ago I noticed that they are not all the same. The slip yoke body is a different shape, as is the flange that bolts to the diff drive flange. One pair uses external circlips to retain the uni cups, the other cups with c-clips on the inside. Splines and grease boot grooves all look to be identical.
One pair has 'Hardy' cast on one side and 'Spicer on the other, the other pair has something indecipherable in the same location on one side only. A part number maybe? At first I thought left and right sides must have been different, but now I'm figuring two pairs.
So does anyone know what either of them were originally from or whether it was a production change or whatever? Early and late production? Cooper and Matic? Mini and Morris 1100?
