Since minis are tiny cars i think it is only appropriate that they are fitted with big **** horns so they aren't pushed around or bullied by other cars. In the event that a honk is in order the sound should not reflect the size of the car but instead scare the crap out of everyone in the immediate vicinity.

I've decided to fit a set of truck air horns and was wondering who has them already? I'm looking at the type that uses a pressurised air tank so there isn't the annoying delay that is caused by the electric pump to get up to speed. I know where to buy the horns but have no idea where to buy the tank and associated plumming.

oh yeah... a mate's got one fitted to his ute, it plays about 40 different tunes and he has upped the pressure in the tank a dozen or so PSI.

If I stand in front of his car and allow him to toot (for want of a better description in this case) his horn, my sphincter will instantly collapse. No control. It is simply insane. They are like the horns of jericho.

has anyone got/tried the $20-30 airhorns from supercrap? are they ok?
i need the horn quite a bit lately.. seems kelloggs are giving drivers licenses away in corn flakes packets.

Rodney has a set on his, although had some trouble with them, with mounting the pump perhaps???

but its nice and loud

yep i got one of those, a k-mart one! it works awesome, pretty load, good fun for scaring people when they pull out infront of you on a round about!

I'm using a cheapo set I got from MyCar (I think). I flung the twin plastic trumpets and fitted 2 Fiamm metal ones (off my old Fiat) they are LOUDER. They work really good. Cheapo air pump is OK.

Mounted `em in LH wheelarch, pointing down & forward.

Mine are same as the high pitched ones you hear in the Italian Job (original), where they are crashing the truck into the warehouse or whatever.

I've used a set of the ones that Ricebarn and Supercrap sell... they're too high pitched for my liking and don't produce an immediate burst when you hit the horn. I want as deep sound as possible.

That's why i want a set that uses an air tank because it has more power and can release the air instantaneously creating a much scarier sound.

Well, it's not a massive delay... it's more that the sound starts like a wheeze then builds up to the real horn noise as the pump builds pressure. It's also not as powerful as the kits with tanks.

The horn installs that some people on that site have are ridiculous. Especially the one in the car with the clear perspex panel in the boot.

we have some superworx(supercheapd ones in one of our cars which has no delay that is noticeable and are quite loud

perhaps the delay is due to a lack of power, my gf's clubby has an LS horn, which only works properly when you're on the accelerator
